Flow maps tend to display an array of information associated with a given location. It uses physical locations as well as superimposed information to relate an idea. In the example above, one is able to see the trade relationship between the US and China. The map uses lines to show a certain flow that helps convey the information to the viewer. One is able to see how imports and exports are taken care of in these countries.
